Beth Arentsen

Born and raised in Middletown, Beth Arentsen is a singer-songwriter-pianist thrilled to be teaching her Music by the Sea Vocal Workshops at Allegro Dance Academy.

Beth spent her youth studying voice and piano and performing in Monmouth County productions.  At age 20 she moved to New York City to study theater at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and to perform her music in Lower Manhattan's music halls.  Beth caught the interest of NoVo Records which signed her to be the front woman of the jazz-funk band P-1.  P-1 released two nationally distributed albums (Step NoVo/Lightyear/WEA and Power  NoVo/Ryko) enjoyed commercial radio play and landed songs in film and television including Fox Searchlight's Trust the Man and ABC's Samantha Who?

Inspired by the success of P-1, Beth self-released two solo albums Sap, produced by Jimi Zhivago (Rufus Wainwright) and Nicer, produced by Beth and Lenae Harris.  Beth regularly performs in New York City at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater and The Living Room.  Other national venues include: Merkin Concert Hall (NYC), The Metro (Chicago), Eisenhower Park Summer Stage (Long Island, NY), the John Drew Theater (East Hampton, NY) as well as many festivals, colleges, benefits and product launches including, Scion. She has also appeared live on commercial and satellite radio and morning television.
Beth resides in Matawan with her husband, Rich, and two cats and enjoys life as a teaching artist by day and performing artist by night.  www.myspace.com/betharentsen
